Pink Halloween Porch Decor

A pink porch reads cute from the street and still says Halloween the second someone walks up the steps. Velvet pumpkins carry it into November, the ghost sign and the doormat do the spooky part, and the candy basket means you never hunt for a bowl again.

Pumpkins first, then everything else

Start with the pink velvet pumpkins, because they set the color for everything else. Check the listing for how many come in the set and what sizes, then group them in odd numbers at different heights. Two on a step, one on a stool, one tucked by a planter.

Velvet does not love rain. If your porch is covered, they will be fine through October. If it is open, bring them in when the weather turns. The upside is that they are not orange. They say fall more than Halloween, so they stay out through Thanksgiving with zero effort.

If your steps get a lot of traffic, keep the pumpkins to one side so nobody trips on the way up. Kids in masks cannot see their feet. Line the bigger pumpkins along the edge of the top step and tuck the small ones close to the wall. On a narrow stoop, set two on a plant stand instead of on the ground.

Door sign and doormat do the spooky part

The pink ghost wooden BOO door sign is pink check with glitter black bats and a jute hanger. Hang it at eye level on the door, centered or slightly above the peephole. If you have a glass storm door, hang it on the inside door so it does not bang around every time someone knocks.

The pink ghost doormat reads SPOOKY with three little ghosts, a witch hat and a bat. It goes right in front of the door, obviously, but measure your door width before you order and check the mat size on the listing. A mat that is too small for the door looks like an afterthought. Shake it out once a week and it holds up.

Candy basket and creepy cloth, placed right

The pink ghost print Halloween candy basket has handles on both sides and soft fabric walls, so it sits flat on a step or a small table without tipping. Put it within reach of the door, not across the porch where kids wander. Last year I set the bowl on a chair by the steps and a teenager took half of it in one grab. This year it stays next to me.

The hot pink creepy gauze cloth comes as a five pack. Drape one along the railing, hang one off a light fixture bracket and stretch a piece across the top of the door frame. Pull it apart with your hands until it looks shredded. Neat gauze looks like a curtain.

Keep the gauze well away from porch light bulbs, candles and anything that gets hot. It is thin fabric and it will catch faster than you think. Use battery candles in lanterns, and if you add string lights, use LED and keep the cloth from bunching around them. Tie it off or tack it down so the wind does not blow it into the light fixture overnight.

Making it work on any size porch

Small stoop? Doormat, sign and two pumpkins is plenty. Bigger porch? Spread the gauze along the railing and cluster the pumpkins by a chair. Pink reads on anything.

If you already have plain white or cream pumpkins from last year, mix them in with the velvet ones and buy fewer. Pink and white together looks deliberate. A pink porch also photographs well at dusk with the porch light on, so take your picture then. Stand at the bottom of the steps, get the door and the mat in the frame, and you are done.

Anything in the photos that is not on the shopping list above is a styling extra, so use what you already own.
